Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your patience and support as we made changes to arrangements in light of the weather this week. The children have been amazing and so many have shown great resilience to overcome the heat and power through. I am very grateful to our amazing staff for their creative ideas to keep the children comfortable. Did you know that St. Cuthbert Mayne had a spa? The children enjoyed water in trays (or foot spas as the children called them) to help them cool down.
In school this week, Year 6 have been busy preparing their play and trying to beat Miss WIlkin in a quiz, Year 3 created some beautiful artwork to illustrate the five pillars of Islam and Year 4 painted amazing paintings inspired by the rainforest. Year 5 have been writing blogs about Inclusion based on their Master Reader’s text – Wonder. Year 2 have created artwork with a doorway to an imaginative place, Year 1 have been singing beautifully in preparation for their collective worship and EYFS have enjoyed some outdoor learning in phonics.

Last week, Year 5 attended the Life of Christ at Wintershall. The children were wonderful ambassadors for the school, and I received really positive feedback from Wintershall staff about how they behaved. The children were particularly excited to meet “Jesus” who is a past St. Cuthbert Mayne pupil.

Next week, 3 girls in Year 2 will be selling bookmarks they have made for £1 to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. The sale will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at lunchtime and Wednesday and Friday at break time. If your child would like to purchase a bookmark, please send them into school with a pound in cash in a named envelope/purse/wallet rather than loose coins in a pocket.
Year 1 are looking forward to sharing their class collective worship with the school and their families on Tuesday afternoon in the school hall at 2.40pm. We will also be welcoming the new Reception children into school for a stay and play session between 2.30pm - 3pm.
We end the week next week, with KS2 sports day at Glebelands. Please see the separate communication regarding arrangements for this. As well as our Summer Fayre on Sunday 5th July from 12pm – 3pm – please come along and support this event at Snoxhall Playing Fields.
Class photos will now take place on the 7th July. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct summer uniform for this.
Mrs Hua, our new Deputy Head, will be visiting us on Thursday. She will be on the school gate at home time, so please say hello.
Have a lovely weekend - hopefully we will all feel more refreshed on Monday after some cooler night's sleep!
God Bless,
Mrs. O’Donovan
Collective Worship

In last Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus reminded his followers not to be afraid. He knew that sometimes it can feel difficult to do the right thing or to stand up for what we believe, especially when we worry about what others might think.
Jesus reassures us that God knows and loves each one of us deeply. He uses the example of sparrows—small birds that seem unimportant—yet not one is forgotten by God. Jesus tells us that we are worth even more than many sparrows, and that God knows us completely, even down to every hair on our heads.
Because of this great love, we are encouraged to trust in God and live with courage, rather than fear. Jesus calls us to be confident in our faith and to show through our actions that we belong to him.

Screens are now part of daily life, but for very young children, simple and predictable boundaries can make a big difference. This guide explores how adults can help under-fives build healthier digital habits by choosing content carefully, keeping devices in shared spaces, protecting bedtime routines, and making screen time feel calm rather than constant.
It also highlights the importance of adult involvement, from co-viewing and chatting about what children see to modelling balanced device use ourselves. With practical scripts, transition tips and age-appropriate routines, the guide offers supportive advice for families, nurseries and early years settings looking to manage screen time with confidence.

Attendance and Punctuality
Next week, the weather is looking cooler, and we look forward to returning to normal school days. Let's all aim to be in school every day until the end of term! Please remember that term time holidays will not be authorised and may incur a fine – we will shortly be having 6 weeks of school holidays. Please make sure that you carefully check the term dates for next year before booking holidays. You can find them here.
Just a reminder that the gates close at 8.50am. If you do not arrive in time to come through the gates, you must take your child into the office and provide a reason for the lateness. There are a lot of traffic lights and roadworks around at the moment that may cause you to be late on one occasion. Once you are aware of this, you do need to think about leaving a little earlier or finding a different route.
If you arrive as the gates are closing, please can children come through quickly – this does mean that KS1 will need to come through alone so that staff can secure the site ready for the school day. Thank you for your support with this.
The Local Authority can proceed with fines for 10 sessions of lateness within a 10-week period (this refers to 10 occasions when a child arrives for school after the register has closed).
