Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Sunday, a number of our children in school received the sacrament of First Holy Communion. It was wonderful to see the Church and the school hall so full with the celebrations. Ms. Robson and I loved seeing you on your special day.
Year 6 visited Guildford Spectrum on Thursday to attend the Junior Citizen Event run by Child Safety Media. The children attended workshops covering different aspects of how to keep safe run by the following agencies: British Transport Police and Network Rail, South East Coast Ambulance Service, NHS Healthy Eating, Take the Jump (combatting global warming) and Freedom Leisure (water safety). It was a really informative morning and Year 6's behaviour and engagement shone throughout the sessions. The children in KS1 gave year 6 a warm welcome back when they saw them arrive back and get off the coach at lunch time!

We hope to see those of you who can help at the School Glow Up event organized by the Friends of St. Cuthbert Mayne on Sunday between 12 and 3pm. Don’t forget your tools and a paintbrush!
Next week, we look forward to welcoming the children and families of Reception 2026-27 to St. Cuthbert Mayne on Tuesday at the Teddy Bear’s picnic and then Year 2 parents on Wednesday at 2.45pm to share their class collective worship.
God Bless,
Mrs. O’Donovan

He explains that just as food helps our bodies grow strong, He is the food that helps our hearts and souls grow in love and faith.
Jesus talks about giving us His Body and Blood. These words may sound surprising, but they are at the heart of what we believe as Catholics. In the Eucharist at Mass, Jesus gives us Himself – not just a reminder of His love, but His real presence with us.
Through Holy Communion, Jesus comes very close to us. He promises that when we receive Him, He will remain with us and give us the gift of eternal life.
This Gospel reminds us that:

Sports betting has become increasingly visible across apps, websites, social platforms and sports coverage, making it easier for young people to encounter gambling messages before they are old enough to take part legally. This guide explores how betting content can appear through adverts, influencers, tipsters, friends, gaming spaces and even adult accounts.
It also highlights the risks of impulsive spending, chasing losses, ‘free bet’ offers and the way gambling can become normalised around sport. With practical advice on starting calm conversations, spotting warning signs, setting safer digital boundaries and finding support, the guide helps parents and educators approach the topic with confidence.
