Dear Parents and Carers,
Can you believe this week’s weather after the amazing sunshine and temperatures over half term? I am sure our gardens will be grateful for the rain! The children and staff have managed a record number of wet plays this week.
Year 6 return from their residential to CYE today. I spent the day with the children on Monday, and it was lovely to see them getting stuck straight into the activities and challenges. On our evening walk, when they were back together as a class after their group activities, they are all sharing the highlights of their day with such excitement. They were certainly looking ready for bed when I left.

On Tuesday, the hall was filled with excited children, staff (and a very excited Headteacher) for the Rocksteady assembly and workshops. Our impromptu teacher band was a hit and some children were lucky enough to have a taster of the instruments. We look forward to working with Rocksteady in the new academic year and seeing the performances of our very own rock and pop bands!

I look forward to attending the celebration for the children receiving their First Holy Communion on Saturday. Please remember all of the children in your prayers this weekend.
On Sunday 14th June, our Friends have organised a Grounds Glow Up day. Please do let them know if you are able to come and volunteer your time – this will make such a difference to our outside areas.
Apologies for a change of date – the Year 2 collective worship date will be changed to avoid a clash with the Teddy Bear's Picnic. Year 2 you will receive a separate letter to communicate the details of this.
God Bless,
Mrs. O’Donovan
Collective Worship
Last Sunday was Trinity Sunday and we shared the Gospel of John 3:16-18. This Gospel reminds us of the depth of God’s love for each one of us. God loved the world so much that He gave His Son, Jesus, so that everyone who believes in Him can have eternal life. Jesus was sent not to condemn us, but to bring us close to God and offer us forgiveness and new life.
This passage encourages us to place our trust in Jesus and to live as people of hope, knowing that God’s love is always there for us. As a school community, we continue to grow in faith by choosing to follow Him and share His love with others in our words and actions.

Wake Up Wednesday
This week’s Wake up Wednesday focusing on language skills – this links really well to our school focus on oracy. Strong oral language skills help children feel confident, connected and ready to learn. This guide explores simple, everyday ways that parents, carers and educators can support children’s speaking, listening and understanding, from shared conversations and story time to naming feelings and building vocabulary through play and routines.
It also highlights the value of working closely with nurseries, schools and early years settings, using evidence-based approaches and spotting possible language needs early. With expert insight from OxEd, the guide offers supportive advice to help children become confident communicators as they prepare for school.

Tables
We didn’t put the tables mentioned in the last newsletter outside for those of you who would like one due to the weather this week! If you would like a table, please email the office via info@stcuthbert-mayne.surrey.sch.uk

Reporting Absences
You will receive a letter to explain a change to how you report your child's absence. Please make sure that you read the letter – rather than phoning, you can report the absence within the Arbor app. The letter will explain everything in more detail. We do ask that you provide details regarding your child's illness - this enables us to track where there might be a spread of germs etc.
School Development Fund

Thank you to those of you who have already contributed to the School Development Fund and for those of you who have set up a regular direct debit. Regular donations really help the school plan ahead and future-proof our school.
As you know, we are currently raising money to move and update our library. The aim is to move the library upstairs over the summer holidays so that the library has a dedicated room rather than being in a thoroughfare. Where possible, we will use existing furniture. However, we would like to buy:
This work on the library will benefit all of the children in the school and we hope in turn it will raise the children's enjoyment of reading. It will also benefit children in the years to come too! Please give generously.
