Dear Parents and Carers,
Can you believe we are at the end of the first half term of the summer term? It has been lovely to finally see a bit more of the sun and warmer weather. It looks like it will be really hot next week!
Year 2 really enjoyed their trip to the Cranleigh Arts Centre to see their picture that was produced for the Cranleigh Schools Art Exhibition. They felt very proud to see their canvas hung on the wall of the Arts Centre. They also enjoyed looking at the art displayed by the other schools. The exhibition will remain open throughout the half-term week, so we encourage you all to visit and enjoy the wonderful pieces of art on display. We cannot wait to get the piece back and display it in school.

Our Faith in Action group lead a beautiful liturgy for the whole school on Wednesday to end the month of Mary. The children planned the whole thing – including prayer stations and their words.
Next half term will be a busy one – starting with Year 6 setting off to CYE in the first week! A few important dates for your diary:
Sports Days – KS1 10th July and KS2 3rd July both will take place at Glebelands and parents are asked to arrive at 9.45am. Reception’s Sports Day will take place at school on the playground on Wednesday 15th July at 9.15 - 10am
Summer Fair - Sunday 5th July. There will be more details to come about these events.
We hope that you all have a wonderful half term and enjoy what looks to be like some lovely weather at last.
God Bless,
Mrs. O’Donovan
Collective Worship
In this week’s collective worship, we explored John 17: 1-11 where Jesus is speaking to his Father about it being time to glorify him and prays for his friends who will take over his mission. The children reflected on how Jesus would have felt talking to his Father, why He wanted God to look after his friends and how we can continue Jesus’ work by being united and living in his love.

Safeguarding - Online Safety
Minecraft remains hugely popular with young players, offering creative freedom and social interaction. This guide explores how features like public servers, in-game chat and multiplayer modes can introduce risks, including contact with strangers, exposure to inappropriate behaviour and privacy concerns linked to independent server hosting.
It also highlights issues such as griefing, in-game spending and potentially addictive gameplay loops. With clear, actionable advice, the guide helps parents and educators set boundaries, choose safer settings and support children in enjoying Minecraft responsibly while staying protected online.

Absences
For some illnesses like chicken pox, scarlet fever or sickness/diarrhoea bugs, it is really important for us to track numbers of cases so that we know if we need to take proactive measures to prevent a spread of the illness. In order for us to do this, we need you to report the specific illness or symptoms your child is displaying, rather than just saying “poorly” or “unwell”. Thank you for your support with this.
Tables
Thanks to the Friends purchasing new tables for KS1 and a bit of a re-shuffle of furniture, we currently have a few of these tables if anyone could make use of them at home. We will put them out on the playground after school the week after half term – do help yourselves if they would be useful.

School Development Fund

Thank you to those of you who have already contributed to the School Development Fund and for those of you who have set up a regular direct debit.
Regular donations really help the school plan ahead and future-proof our school.
As you know, we are currently raising money to move and update our library. The aim is to move the library upstairs over the summer holidays so that the library has a dedicated room rather than being in a thoroughfare. Where possible, we will use existing furniture. However, we would like to buy:
This work on the library will benefit all of the children in the school and we hope in turn it will raise the children's enjoyment of reading. It will also benefit children in the years to come too! Please give generously.
National Book Token school nominations
Please go onto the National Book Token website to nominate our school to win £1000 to spend on our library! There isn’t a limit to the number of nominations – the more entries the higher the chance of us being chosen. You can nominate us here
