Dear Parents and Carers,
We have been incredibly proud of the way Year 6 took this week in their stride. They have all worked incredibly hard, and I am sure they are feeling very relieved to have their SATS behind them! Now they have the wait for their results but lots to enjoy in the meantime – starting with their residential after half term!

On Tuesday afternoon, St. David’s class led the school and their families in the most beautiful collective worship focusing on the story of Pentecost. Despite being the youngest children in our school, the children spoke and acted confidently and helped us to reflect on the impact of the Holy Spirit on our lives.

Lots of the children (and staff) were caught out by the sudden downpours this week – particularly at lunchtime when there was hail. Please do ensure your child has a suitable waterproof coat with them every day. We do still go out if there is light rain.
I happened to be in Year 5 on Wednesday afternoon when they were working collaboratively to write manifestos to look after the world. I think there may very well be some future politicians and broadcasters within the class! The children were great at thinking of counter arguments and feedback for one another. It’s a shame that the local elections have already taken place!
God Bless,
Mrs. O’Donovan
Learning in school
Year 2
Year 2 have worked so hard as a class to create a stunning piece of art for an exhibition at the Cranleigh Arts Centre.

Among the Bluebells
Inspired by the beautiful signs of spring appearing around us, Year 2 chose to create a vibrant woodland scene filled with birds, foxes, unfurling leaves and carpets of bluebells. As we thought about the changing season outdoors, we captured the colours, textures and energy of spring through a range of artistic techniques.
Using paint, watercolour and tissue paper, the children experimented with colour mixing, collage, sponging and printing to bring their woodland to life. Each piece celebrates creativity, observation and the joy of the natural world awakening in springtime.
Year 4

Year 4 have been busy in Science this week. They have been learning how to group plants in various ways, and more specifically, what key questions can lead to the creation of a classification key when studying different leaves. There was also the opportunity to test other groups' classification keys and see if the questions asked were suitable. Very impressive!
Safeguarding - Online Safety
Online grooming is a growing and deeply concerning threat, with thousands of offences recorded each year in the UK. This edition explores how offenders build trust with children through fake identities, flattery, gifts and group chats before exploiting that relationship. It also examines the rise of sextortion and how gaming platforms and social media can become gateways for harm.
Beyond sexual exploitation, the guide highlights criminal grooming and radicalisation, helping adults recognise that manipulation can take many forms. With practical advice on spotting warning signs, creating open conversations and understanding the platforms children use, this resource empowers parents and educators to intervene early and keep young people safer online.

School Development Fund

Thank you to those of you who have already contributed to the School Development Fund and for those of you who have set up a regular direct debit. Regular donations really help the school plan ahead and future-proof our school.
As you know, we are currently raising money to move and update our library. The aim is to move the library upstairs over the summer holidays so that the library has a dedicated room rather than being in a thoroughfare. Where possible, we will use existing furniture. However, we would like to buy:
This work on the library will benefit all of the children in the school and we hope in turn it will raise the children's enjoyment of reading. It will also benefit children in the years to come too! Please give generously.
