Summer Term - Issue 110

{item_alt_tag}

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Saturday, children from across KS1 and KS2 took part in the TCS Mini Marathon in London. It was an amazingly well-organised event; a highlight was warming up with Joe Wicks and one of the Gladiators! What an opportunity for the children who took part. A massive thank you to Ms. Robson and Mrs Harrison for making this possible and to the families for taking the children up to London, and the parents (and past pupils) who ran with the children and navigated the crowds. Then on Sunday, Mrs. Best (our Local Director of Primary Education) ran the full marathon on Sunday, in 4hrs 30mins.

Year 5 led a thought-provoking Class Collective Worship on Tuesday with a fantastic reflection on “Who Killed the King?” - exploring the individuals who had roles in Jesus’ crucifixion. The children spoke clearly and with confidence. Thank you to the parents who were able to attend the celebration too.

The ice-lolly sale was a wonderful way to end the week! When I asked some of the children in after school club this week what they would wish for if they had 3 wishes when they were at after school club – they said a visit from the ice-cream van – they almost got their wish!

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the bank holiday!

God Bless,

Mrs. O’Donovan

Collective Worship

Last Sunday, was Good Shepherd Sunday and we explored John 10: 1-10. We wondered about:

  • How the sheep feel when they hear the shepherd’s voice and know they are safe?

  • What Jesus meant when he said he was the gate?

  • How we can recognise Jesus’ voice today and what might stop us from listening to Him?

Safeguarding

Safety at Drop-Off and Pick-Up Times

For the safety of all children, we ask that parents and carers closely supervise their children at all times during drop-off and pick-up - this includes pre-school children. It is essential that adults know exactly where all of their children are while on the school site.

We have noticed instances where children are not being adequately supervised during these busy times. This presents a serious safeguarding risk, and we must stress that responsibility for children’s supervision remains with parents and carers until they have been handed over to school staff in the morning and then at the end of the day again once they have been collected.

Please note the following important safety reminders:

  • Play equipment must not be used by pre-school children at any time.

  • unless directly supervised by a member of school staff.

  • Children should not be permitted to wander around the school site unsupervised.

  • Bikes and scooters need to be pushed on and off the school site (not ridden)

School-aged children must not use play equipment before or after school

These rules are in place to keep all children safe and to prevent accidents or injuries. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and orderly environment for everyone.
