Dear Parents and Carers,
For our INSET today, the teachers are having a Lenten retreat at Wintershall with two other schools from our Guildford Hub – St. Polycarp’s and St. Edmund’s. Whilst the Learning Support Assistants are having training with all the other LSAs from across Xavier at Salesians in Chertsey. We hope you enjoy the bonus of a long weekend!
There was a buzz of excitement in Year 1 on Tuesday morning as the children were getting ready for their trip to The Milestones Museum in Basingstoke to find out about how toys have changed over time and to help them understand the concept of chronology. I have heard a lot about the session where the children were able to play some games such as tiddlywinks and pick up sticks!

Year 4 had a visit from Chertsey Museum on Tuesday as part of their History learning about Anglo-Saxons. The children enjoyed exploring artefacts and evidence to find out how beliefs changed over time from pagan traditions to Christianity.
We are looking forward to seeing the children’s presentations of their Science experiments for the Science Fair on Tuesday afternoon. Parents, you are invited to come and see the learning across the school after pick up too. Our Key Stage 2 winner and runner up will attend the Xavier Science Fair on the 24th March.

Art project: A message from Mrs. Scarisbrick

This weekend, your child is invited to take part in a fun art project. Each child has been given a blank A3 sheet of paper on which they can create a portrait using any medium they choose. This could be a self-portrait or a portrait of a family member, friend or even a family pet.
Children are welcome to use sketching pencils, paint, pens, collage, or any other materials they enjoy working with. It is a wonderful opportunity for them to spend some time being creative and producing something special and unique.
Please ensure that all artwork is returned to school by the morning of Monday 16th March. Please write your child’s full name, year group and the subject of the portrait on the reverse of the picture. One selected piece from our school will be displayed in the foyer of the Cranleigh Arts Centre for a month.
Please note that participation is entirely optional; if your child would prefer not to take part, that is absolutely fine.
I look forward to seeing all of the wonderful creations next week.
Mrs Scarisbrick
