Dear Parents and Carers,
It was lovely to welcome you into school this week for parents’ evening. We hope that you found your parent teacher meetings useful to help you understand the progress your child has made and their next steps. As well as having a chance to look at your child’s work!
Please don’t forget that school is closed for children on Monday 23rd February as the teachers have an INSET day focusing on writing.

There has been a flurry of activity in and outside of school this week! Year 4 enjoyed a walk to Snoxhall Park on Wednesday on a Geography field trip to explore the use of local land and compare this to the Amazon rainforest! Year 1 have produced some amazing writing based on The Bear and the Piano using the conjunction ‘and’ to join two sentences together. Year 5 were busy recycling old t-shirts into bags on Thursday afternoon and then went off to the Royal Grammar School in Guildford for a Tudor Day today! (Photos to follow after half term!) Year 6 have been learning about area and permiter. In Maths, Year 3 have been exploring measure - the classroom door measure 202.5cm! Year 2 have been reflecting on the feelings linked to saying sorry and forgiveness. Reception were busy making Valentine’s day cards today!

Last Friday, I was a very excited Headteacher when 32 new iPads and a charging trolley arrived in school - thanks to your generosity in supporting Friends events. This means that we now have 47 iPads that we can use across the school to support with learning and that children can access things such as Times Tables Rockstars as a whole class, rather than needing to share devices! We can’t wait to start using these after half term.
There was much excitement in Collective Worship on Monday when I spoke about The Friends’ kindness hearts and the treat of a krispy kreme doughnut today! What a way to end a half term!

Hope you have a lovely half term!

Collective Worship
Salt brings extra flavour to our food, and when Jesus told the disciples that they were the salt of the earth, he was reminding them to be who God created them to be and to share the gifts and talents he had given them.
The children reflected thoughtfully on how they could be the salt of the earth and let their lights shine during collective worship. It felt particularly special to revisit this Gospel in school, as it was the focus of the liturgy I led with staff on my very first INSET day here, and again in the first whole-school collective worship of last academic year.

Swimming

Year 2 are swimming every Thursday this term. We are still looking for volunteers to help with this up until Easter. If you are able to help, please contact the school office. Thank you in advance!
Calling all teachers!
We are eager to keep the expertise within the teaching profession within our school so that all of the children can benefit. If you are considering returning to education either full or part time, a learning support assistant role might be the ideal next step! This transition enables teachers to familiarise with current best practice and allows all of our children to benefit from your expertise! If you are interested or want to chat further about potential opportunities (without any commitment), do contact me!
