Dear Parents and Carers,
Can you believe there is only one week of the first half of the spring term left? We look forward to welcoming you into school next week for parents’ evening - a great opportunity to find out about your children’s progress and next steps.

Thank you for your incredible support for the Book Fair this week! We’ve taken around £900 in just the first two days—and we still have one more to go. Your purchases earn commission for the school, which we can use to buy new books for our classrooms and library. A huge thank‑you to Ms. Peak and Miss Wilkin for organising the fair so brilliantly. To those of you who paid by card on Thursday—thank you for your patience when my arithmetic skills suddenly deserted me! In my defence, it was the end of a very busy day!

Our Year 6 netballers braved torrential rain for their match against Wonersh and Shamley Green on Thursday after school. We hosted the match in which Wonersh and Shamley Green won 11-6. A big thank you to Ms. Robson and Miss Emms for organising the match and standing out in the rain too!
Hope you have a lovely weekend,

Collective Worship
Last Sunday’s Gospel was Matthew’s account of the Beatitudes. However, as the Presentation of Jesus at the Temple was actually on Monday, we explored this in collective worship. We wondered how Simeon would have felt to actually witness God’s promise to him by meeting Jesus. We also wondered how Mary and Joseph would have felt to have seen Simeon and Anna’s response to their baby.
We also looked at these two pieces of art that depict the event. Which one do you prefer and why?

Swimming

Year 2 are swimming every Thursday this term. We are still looking for volunteers to help with this up until Easter. If you are able to help, please contact the school office. Thank you in advance!
Learning this month
Apologies that Year 4 were left off last week’s newsletter! Here is an insight into their Science learning.

In Science, we have been exploring the fascinating topic of changes of state. Today was an especially exciting day, as we carried out a range of hands‑on experiments to investigate how different materials behave when they change from one state to another. We observed what happens to solids when they melt, discussing how heat energy causes their particles to loosen and move more freely. We also explored how liquids can turn into gases through evaporation, and we talked about how particles spread out as they gain energy. It was a fun‑filled session full of predictions, observations, and lots of scientific thinking.
Calling all teachers!
We are eager to keep the expertise within the teaching profession within our school so that all the children can benefit. If you are considering returning to education either full or part-time, a learning support assistant role might be the ideal next step! This transition enables teachers to familiarise with current best practice and allows all our children to benefit from your expertise! If you are interested or want to chat further about potential opportunities (without any commitment), do contact me!
Online Safety
Artificial intelligence is becoming a familiar part of young people’s online experiences, with a myriad of school tools and entertainment platforms in use. This #WakeUpWednesday guide breaks down what AI really is, helping adults explain it clearly and realistically so children don’t overestimate its abilities or trust it unquestioningly. It explores how AI systems work, where they appear online, and why understanding them matters.
The guide also highlights key online safety considerations, including misinformation, data privacy, bias and over-reliance on AI tools. With practical advice on setting boundaries, choosing age-appropriate platforms and encouraging ethical, creative use, it empowers parents and educators to build digital literacy while keeping children safe, curious and critically engaged.
