Dear Parents and Carers,
I was delighted to be able to share our Catholic Schools Inspection report with you yesterday. We are very pleased with the outcome and how the report captures the school and all that we do. A copy was emailed out to parents yesterday, but it is available on our website here.
A huge well done to our swimming team who came 2nd in the Cranleigh Schools Swimming Gala! A massive thank you to Ms. Robson for organising this and then giving up her time on a Sunday along with Miss Wilkin and Mrs. Scarisbrick to support the children. I was sorry to have missed it.

Thank you also to our Head Boy and Girl, along with Mrs Chalstrey and Mrs. Newland for representing our school at the Cranleigh Remembrance Day Parade and service.
Year 6 led a thoughtful class collective worship on the theme of Remembrance on Tuesday afternoon for the school and their families. The stillness and peace in the hall was very moving.
Classes spent time on Tuesday afternoon finding out more about aspects of Remembrance Day. EYFS learnt about why the poppy is important. Year 1 focused on how we remember people on Remembrance Day, Year 2 explored who we remember, Year 3 focused on what a war memorial is, Year 4 who was affected by the wars, Year 5 found out about the impact of war around the world and Year 6 looked at War Poetry and then wrote their own poem that they shared in their collective worship.

Year 3 investigated forces in Science on Wednesday. They loved working out the direction of the force and deciding if it was a pull, a push or a twist.

In PE this week, year 6 were exploring balance in gymnastics. Have they fully extended their arms and legs to perfect the balances?

Look at these fantastic fact files about Meerkats that Year 2 have written! Can you guess the book they have exploring in English?

Collective Worship

Due to class photos on Monday, we were unable to gather together as a class family for whole school collective worship. The children explored Sunday’s Gospel in their classes. In the Gospel, Jesus becomes angry as people were not being respectful in his Father’s house. He was zealous in his protection of the sacred space. What are you passionate about defending in your own life?
New Parish Mass
The Diocese are moving towards a model where Deaneries become moderated parishes. The Guildford Parish will be celebrating Mass with Bishop Richard at St. Joseph’s Church in Guildford on Saturday 29th November at 6pm. It would be lovely to see some of our children (in school uniform) with their families. Mr. Ellson would also really like his choir to sing at the Mass too – please see a separate letter about this.
Safeguarding
AI can now generate realistic looking videos that are almost impossible to distinguish from genuine content. From hoax news to abusive deepfakes, these synthetic clips can mislead, manipulate and even harm. As AI tools become more advanced, and more accessible, young people are increasingly at risk of encountering fake but convincing footage online. This #WakeUpWednesday guide unpacks the dangers of AI-generated videos, from the emotional impact of fake distressing content to the potential for impersonation and bullying. With practical tips to help young users spot deepfakes and navigate online spaces with confidence, this guide is an essential read for parents and educators navigating this rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Shoeboxes for the Ukraine

Just a reminder, if you are able to donate, boxes needs to be in school for collection by 16th November. Please see the information here for further information regarding what to put into the boxes and how to label them etc. Last year we donated 12 boxes – let's see if we can beat that number!
