Spring Term - Issue 76

{item_alt_tag}

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to everyone involved behind the scenes that made the Summer Fair such a success. A massive thank you to The Friends Team for all their hard work in planning and coordinating such the event. Thank you to those who gave up your time on Sunday running stalls, to our Governors for running the tombola and to our fantastic Year 6’s. It was a lovely community event - I know I had great fun and surprised myself, my husband (and some of the staff and children) with my darts skills! We don’t have a final figure yet, but around £3700 was raised! The money is going to go towards repairs and improvements in our prayer garden.

Look out for information regarding the end-of-term disco taking place next Friday (11th).

Last Saturday, our Year 6 Faith in Action group were invited to a special celebration with Bishop Richard at Worth Abbey. The children have worked hard over the year to live out their faith, share their faith within the community and beyond, as well as keep a reflective journal of their journey. We are immensely proud of the children and hope they take the next step in the Faith in Action awards when they move on to Secondary School.

On Tuesday morning, the children spent time in their new classrooms, with their new teachers. There was a positive buzz around the school when I visited every class. Our new Reception children have also had time in their new school with the teachers this week and parents attended a talk in the hall too – we look forward to welcoming these new families to our community in September.

From September, we will have a new catering company managing school lunches. They are called Innovate and we are excited to begin working with them. This will mean a change to the way lunches are booked and paid for – please look out for an email containing this information.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Collective Worship

Sunday 29th June was the Solemnity of St. Peter and St. Paul and we reflected on the lives of the two saints and the examples they provide us for our lives. We talked about what being a “rock” to someone meant, and who are “rocks” in our lives. Once we thought about the quality those “rocks” have, we were able to think about how we can be a rock for others.

When we thought about St. Paul, one of the children said that he reminds us that no matter how big our mistakes are or how far we stray from God, he will always give us another chance and the opportunity to turn our lives around.

From The Friends

THANK YOU for an Amazing Summer Fair! 🌞
Hi everyone,

What an absolutely fantastic day we had on Sunday for our school summer fair!

It was super-hot ☀️ so an extra big well done to everyone for keeping cool and making it such a lovely event!!
A huge thank you to all our incredible volunteers, vendors, parents, families, staff & children who helped make the day run so smoothly. Your time, energy, and support has been incredible!
We’re thrilled to share that together we raised approx. £3,700 for the school 🎉👏 — a really fantastic achievement and testament to our brilliant school community!!!
Thank you so much for your support! This is not possible without you!!
I’ll be posting separately very soon with all the details of our raffle winners, so keep an eye out for that!

Thank you so much,

Love, The Friends x

National Online Safety

iPads are a familiar fixture in many households and classrooms, offering access to educational tools, entertainment, and the internet in one sleek package; however, with great versatility comes notable risk. From accidental spending and data privacy breaches to excessive screen time, there’s plenty for parents and educators to consider before handing over the device. While Apple offers built-in safeguards such as ‘Screen Time’ and ‘Family Sharing’, these features must be correctly set up and actively managed to be effective.

This week’s “WakeUpWednesday” guide walks you through these options and highlights some of the more surprising ways children can get around restrictions – including with Siri – while offering practical advice on how to help keep young users safe and healthy online.

Parking and Road Safety

Points to remember please:

  • Do not park on the zig zag lines

  • Ensure the junction to Ewhurst Road is clear for traffic to enter and exit

  • Do not park on the double yellow lines

  • Be considerate of the residents along St. Nicolas Crescent

  • Take care with where you are crossing – avoid crossing between parked cars
