Dear Parents and Carers,
We wish you all a joyful and happy Easter holiday! Let’s hope the weather is kind to us all over the break and that everyone comes back refreshed and ready for the summer term. With the start of the summer term, the children can wear summer uniform. Please see the uniform list for more details.
I forgot to mention the Xavier Science Fair that took place last week – we had six children very excitedly attend the event at ACS International School in Cobham with Mrs. Quinlan. Thank you to the parents that supported with transport to and from the event.

It was a busy week at St. Cuthbert Mayne:
On Monday of this week, children in the Faith Council were invited to attend an outdoor liturgy at St. Joseph’s Specialist Trust in Cranleigh. St. Joseph’s kindly provided a minibus to transport us there and back. We had a beautiful afternoon in the sun to reflect on our Lenten journey. It gave us ideas that we can bring back to school too!

After school on Monday, Mr. Ellson’s choir led a Lenten Reflection for parents and staff. This gave the choir the opportunity to share the songs they had been learning this term and provided the adults with the opportunity to reflect.

Fr Alistair was in school on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons this week so that children in KS2 had the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Then on Tuesday, the Year 6 netball team won the tournament hosted by Glebelands! Look at the joy in their faces! The following evening, the Year 6 football team game 3rd in their tournament at a Tillingbourne.

We ended the term today with Mass at Church – thank you to the KS2 and KS1 choirs for sharing their singing talents with the school and parish communities.
The Friends have been very busy this term (and especially this week) and are delighted to share that over the past three weeks, The Friends have raised an incredible £1,118! This is a brilliant effort from everyone involved—the hardworking team, wonderful volunteers & all the amazing families/children/friends of Saint Cuthbert Mayne school!! See below for a breakdown of the fundraising. Thank you to everyone for your support of the events that have funded new additions to our playgrounds – watch this space for photos in the new term.
Thank you to those of you who are following the school on Instagram. Do follow us if you use this social media platform!

Collective Worship

This week’s Gospel was the Parable of the Prodigal Son – probably one of the best-known parables. The children reflected on who they are most like in the story – the forgiving father, the son who makes mistakes but asks for forgiveness or the son who always does the right thing and is critical of his brother and father for asking for or giving forgiveness. Arabella recognised that the father in the story represents God – he is always there for us with open arms and ready to forgive our mistakes. The children think this is a great Gospel for Lent as it reminds us that on our Lenten journey, we can say sorry to God or try to be closer to him and he will welcome us back with love!
School Development Fund
A few weeks ago now, you were sent a letter from the governors about the School Development Fund. The School Development Fund pays for projects which ensure the school remains an attractive and safe environment for the children including a rolling programme of refurbishment, new technologies and other capital expenditure. It would be really helpful for planning if you could complete this form in regard to your engagement with the School Development Fund.
You can now contribute to the School Development Fund via a tab on the front page of our website using CAF donate

Online Safety
Instagram remains a go-to app for teens, with its endless stream of photos, videos, and ‘Stories’ keeping young users constantly connected. From influencer content to live broadcasts, the platform is packed with evolving features that can feel fun and engaging – but can also raise some serious concerns around screen time, online pressures and exposure to inappropriate content.
National Online Safety have created this free guide – also available in podcast format – offering parents and educators up-to-date knowledge on the risks and safety tips for this latest version of Instagram.

Points to remember please:
I know that a parent talked to the PCSO about having a walking bus. If anyone would like to volunteer to organise that - please get in contact with Mrs O’Donovan via the School Office. She would love to hear from you!
