Dear Parents and Carers,
I think the most exciting news of the week has been about the St. Cuthbert Mayne guinea pigs who will arrive in school after Easter! The children are very excitedly thinking about names – watch this space to find out what they decide! Our grateful thanks to The Friends for their fundraising which has made this happen. I think some of the staff (especially me) are possibly more excited than the children! We will of course make sure that the children always thoroughly wash their hands after touching or handling the guinea pigs. Thank you to those of you who have completed the permission form. You can click here if you haven’t done it yet.

Year 2 (St. Patrick’s class) led a beautiful class collective worship on the theme of the parable of the Lost Sheep. I was very sad not to be there as I heard so many positive comments about how confidently the children spoke and led the community in prayer. Thank you, Year 2 and Mrs. Robson for the thought and care that went into it.
We are looking forward to the KS1 film night tonight! Don’t forget about the Mother’s day raffle next week – see information further down.
Thank you to those of you who are following the school on Instagram. Do follow us if you use this social media platform!

Collective Worship

I really like the style of the artist Mike Moyers, particularly this image of the Transfiguration as it enables you to use your own imagination to think about what Jesus, Moses and Elijah look like. The children’s knowledge of this Gospel was impressive – before we read it, they were able to recall the names of everyone in the story. Jesus was seen by Peter, James and John in his true, holy form. In collective worship, we thought about how we can let other people see us in our true form – the version of ourselves that God intended for us to be. We also thought about how spending quiet time in God’s presence helps us to discover this side of ourselves and how we could make time for this in our week, as well as the places we might feel more comfortable or ready to spend time with God.
Online Safety
Livestreaming is now a major part of children’s entertainment, evolving from gamers sharing screens into a booming industry with diverse personalities. While watching streamers can be entertaining, it comes with no small number of risks for children, such as misinformation, negative influences, and inappropriate content. With over 2.5 million viewers on Twitch – the current most popular streaming platform – at any one time, this guide highlights the potential dangers associated with watching livestreams and the importance of staying informed.
National Online Safety have created this free guide – also available in podcast format – to provide parents and educators everything they need to know about streamers and how to keep children protected.

Volunteers

We would love to have some parents/grandparents help with reading in school. To volunteer, you will need to be committed to coming into school regularly, undertake a DBS and safeguarding training. Please contact the office if you can offer support with this.
Parking

Points to remember please:
I know that a parent talked to the PCSO about having a walking bus. If anyone would like to volunteer to organise that - please get in contact with Mrs O’Donovan via the School Office. She would love to hear from you!
