Dear Parents and Carers,
First of all, please don’t forget that there is no school on Monday 1st December as we have a day to celebrate St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of our Trust.

Yesterday, we celebrated the feast day of St. Cuthbert Mayne as a school with Mass and then learning linked to St. Cuthbert Mayne and how he lived by Catholic Social Teaching principles. The children’s work will update the St. Cuthbert Mayne display in the entrance way – we look forward to sharing a photo of this with you when it is complete!

On Monday, children from Year 4 and 5 took part in a Basketball event at Glebelands. Our Year 5 team came first and the Year 4 team third. Thank you to Ms. Robson, Miss Emms and Mrs. Patrick for supporting with this event.
This weekend is the start of Advent, but the sound of Nativity and Advent songs can already be heard around the school. We look forward to sharing the Nativity and Advent Service with you in the next couple of weeks.
Do follow us on Instagram if you haven’t already https://www.instagram.com/saint_cuthbert_mayne/
God Bless,
Mrs. Amy O’Donovan
Headteacher
Collective Worship
Last Sunday was the feast of Christ the King. In Collective Worship we explored what Christ the King means and some of the symbolism behind the objects Jesus is often holding in art work of Christ the King.

New Parish Mass
The Diocese are moving towards A model where Deaneries become moderated parishes. The Guildford Parish will be celebrating Mass with Bishop Richard at St. Joseph’s Church in Guildford on Saturday 29th November at 6pm. It would be lovely to see some of our children (in school uniform) with their families.
EYFS
We have been learning about the features of maps. We have looked at a satellite map of our school and re-created our own maps. We considered shapes and positions of the features when making our maps.

Learning in Year 1
Year 1 have been learning all about commands and algorithms in Computing, they even programmed each other to make banana sandwiches! In Geography, they created a 'messy map' of the classroom showing their creativity by choosing counters, dinosaurs, cubes and wooden blocks to create an aerial view of the room. In DT, they had a competition to build the tallest and most stable structure out of Lego, cubes and then from recycled items.

Online Safety
Now the world’s go-to short video platform, TikTok captivates young audiences with its endless stream of engaging clips, but not without potential pitfalls. From unsettling or age-inappropriate content to harmful viral challenges, misinformation and even radicalisation, this ever-popular app can expose children to content that may not always be suitable for them.
Our #WakeUpWednesday guide explores TikTok’s hidden hazards, including in-app spending, compulsive screen time and privacy concerns, offering clear advice for parents and educators. With expert insight and practical safety tips, it aims to help families ensure that TikTok use remains fun, positive and, most importantly, safe.
