Friday 10th October 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Today we have celebrated World Mental Health Day in school by wearing a splash of yellow. Thank you in advance to those of you who were able to make a donation to Young Minds. On Wednesday, Ms. Robson led an assembly to share strategies the children can use to support their emotional health and wellbeing – this included dancing and calming, breathing activities. Young Minds have some great resources and ideas for supporting children's wellbeing on their website.

Please complete the parental questionnaire that I shared last week if you haven’t already. The closing date is the end of this half term. It is so important for us to hear your views on what is going well and how we can improve. https://participate.schoolsurveys.com/gva4emo8jox3pQ0f

God Bless,
Mrs. Amy O’Donovan
Headteacher
Collective Worship

We explored Luke’s Gospel on Monday and then reflected on how the Gospel has guided us this week in Celebration Collective Worship. The children shared how their faith had helped them do great things – this included “being the best behaved I have ever been!”, “leading play with children in Key Stage 1”, “writing more” and being “kind to people that I don’t normally speak to”.
POLITE REMINDER - BOOKING SCHOOL LUNCHES
To help us ensure every child has a lunch ready for the week ahead, please make sure school lunches are booked by 11:00pm on Sunday. You’re welcome to book several weeks in advance if that’s easier.
If a lunch hasn’t been booked, we kindly ask that you provide your child with a packed lunch for the day. Unfortunately, the school isn’t able to book lunches on a daily basis, so if a child arrives without a lunch, we’ll need to contact parents/carers to bring one in.

Safeguarding
We want to make you aware of a recent issue affecting some popular children’s books by Andrew Cope, including the Spy Dogs, Spy Cats, and Spy Pups series.
Some editions of these books include a printed web address at the back. This link used to go to the author’s website, but the domain is no longer under his control. It has since been taken over by another party and now leads to inappropriate adult content.
The publisher, Puffin, has paused sales and distribution of the books and is working with schools, libraries, and retailers to remove copies from circulation. They have stressed that the website has no connection to the author or publisher.
What this means for you:
We will continue to share updates from the publisher as more information becomes available.
Reception 2026
We have just settled our Reception intake, but it is already time to think about 2026’s new intake! If your child is due to start school in September 2026 and you would like to find out more about St. Cuthbert Mayne Catholic Primary School, we will be running tours of the school so that you can see us in action and have the opportunity to meet with Mrs. O’Donovan, Headteacher on the following dates:
To book a place, please complete this form.
