Spelling and Grammar
Accurate spelling is an important lifelong skill. As children's confidence in spelling develops, they are increasingly able to make ambitious vocabulary choices without being limited by uncertainty about how words are spelt.
We use Read Write Inc. Spelling from Years 2–6, building upon the spelling knowledge children develop through phonics. Children learn spelling patterns, rules and strategies, alongside words and patterns that need to be remembered.
Spelling is taught explicitly and revisited regularly so that children can apply their learning confidently within their independent writing.
