School Development Fund

You only have to look at the news to know that funding for education nationwide is limited! Being part of the Xavier Trust, makes us more financially robust than if we were a single entity. However, we must continuously generate funds to meet any shortfall, and to ensure that we provide the best education and environment for the children in our school.
The funding the school receives is from 3 main channels:
- Central funding from the Department for Education (managed by the Trust)
- The incredible work of The Friends of St. Cuthbert Mayne
- Parents’ voluntary contributions for the Governors’ School Development Fund
Traditionally, the Friends’ fundraising enables us to buy the “extras” that make an impact on the school for all pupils e.g. play resources. We are currently raising money to update our library. It was moved upstairs over the summer holidays so that the library has a dedicated room rather than being in a thoroughfare. We would still like to buy:
-
some baskets for displaying books (£20 for each set of 4)
-
some items of furniture e.g. kinderboxes for picture books at a cost of around £200 each, bookcases.
-
updating the non-fiction books – this will require the largest amount of fundraising as many of the books were outdated!
This work on the library will benefit all of the children in the school and we hope in turn it will raise the children's enjoyment of reading. It will also benefit children in the years to come too! Please give generously.
The School Development Fund pays for projects which enable the school to remain an attractive and safe environment for the children, including a rolling programme of refurbishment, new technologies and other capital expenditure.
We are incredibly blessed with the generosity of our school community and would like to express our sincere thanks to all parents and carers who make regular donations to the School Development Fund.
he Leadership Team plans for the continuous improvement of the learning areas of the school. Investments with funds raised this academic year include upgrading the toilets for Key Stage 2 to be more environmentally friendly.
You can make donations to the School Development fund via CAFdonate, for which there is a link on the front page of our website - the one with our school logo on it:

There are options to make a one-off donation or to make regular donations - with varying amounts to suit your personal budget.
