Catholic Social Teaching

At St. Cuthbert Mayne, we are using CAFOD's 7 principles of Catholic Social Teaching as the compass for  learning about and living out our faith in the world.

As part of our focus on Catholic Social Teaching, the children are provided with opportunities to live out their faith. This includes acts of charity such as harvest food collections and Christmas Hampers. At Christmas, each class prepares a song to share with the Parish "Over 50s" group when they host we host a coffee morning in school. We are developing our charity work to think about the impact we can have in the local community e.g. through links with local services such as care homes, national charities and international organisations.

The children understand that we do not do these things just because it is kind or the right thing to do, but because through these actions we are following in Jesus' footsteps as Jesus always considered the vulnerable in his mission.
