Catholic Life
The Catholic life of St. Cuthbert Mayne's school is rich in opportunities for children to encounter God. Our Catholic faith is central to the day-to-day life of our school, and pupils are encouraged to put their faith into practice in their own lives.
Faith Council
Children from Reception to Year 6 are chosen each year to take part in our Faith Council. These children take the lead in school with elements of Catholic Life. They are wonderful role models for the rest of the school, particularly in prayer and liturgy. The children are currently working on plans to redevelop out outside prayer space.
Faith in Action
Mrs Newland leads our Faith in Action group with Year pupils. Children in this group are working towards achieving their Discovery pins through their service to the community, inspired by their faith. The children are currently working on a project to develop an outdoor prayer space for our Parish.
Significant events in the life of the Church
When Pope Francis died, we had a dedicated prayer space for quiet reflection for the school community to share their thoughts and prayers.
The Rosary
During the months of May and October, the children are given the opportunity to pray the rosary every morning on their arrival at school. It is such a beautiful way to start the day, and even better when we are able to do this outside!
Living out our school mission
Each week in our celebrations collective worship, we celebrate 3 children from each class who have lived out our school mission this week. This helps to keep our mission of "Everyone Belonging, Aiming High and Growing in Faith" at the centre of everything we do.
Support from Fr. Alistair
Fr. Alistair supports the Catholic Life of our school and the RE curriculum in various ways, from organising workshops for us in the Church linked to the Stations of the Cross or Baptism to providing opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in school or leading liturgies.
